Phenomenal Cactus Skeleton

Is this not the most spectacular cactus skeleton?  I took a break from plein air painting and went for a walk.   When I came upon it I was in awe.  I was talking to myself out loud.  Wow, unbelievable and so perfect, just sitting out here in the middle of the desert waiting for me.

Why did Miss Witchy consult an astrologer?  To find out her horror-scope.  Why was Miss Witchy a bad traveler?  She always got broom-sick.  Two's enough for now (probably one too many).

Lacey Stole

I purchased some vintage non-allergic, mothproof Fluffy Unger yarn imported from France.  It's very soft and mohair-like and I love the color.  The stole is based on a free scarf pattern from The Art of Zen Crochet (click HERE).  The polymer clay magnetic pin is one of my layered cane pins.

Crocheted Mesh Top

 I've been working on crocheting a mesh tank top, which is coming along.  I've changed the design twice, so we'll see.  The free Drops Design pattern is from Garn Studio (click HERE).  The yarn is a cotton linen blend--CotLin in Cashew from Knit Picks (click HERE).  Polymer clay necklaces.

Russian Spiral Bracelet

 As seen on the web, by sliding a short crimp tube on a jump ring and securing my beading thread through the crimp tube, it provides a cleaner/neater, stronger finish.

Goin Riding

 I sculpted this guy a while ago.  I used ProSculpt polymer clay and made his clothes out of air dry polymer clay.  I purchased the damaged animal from Goodwill and fixed his broken ear with some Apoxie Sculpt and a touch of acrylic paint.  I thought the two made a good pair.

Sea Nymph #1

I used translucent polymer clay to sculpt the Sea Nymph on this hand blown glass vase.

Ball & Chain & Polymer Clay

 I purchased a bag of small ball & chains normally used for cell phone charms.  I made a slightly larger polymer clay component (larger than this one) and added the chains.

Bead Embroidered Bag

I made this bead embroidered piece quite a while ago, but could never decide what I wanted to do with it.  This leather bag from Goodwill was calling my name; just enough room for my keys, wallet and cell phone.  Love it.

Polymer, Peyote & Catrina

 "Catrina" peyote beaded slider with polymer clay beads on a cable.  I started this pendant a very long time ago and finally, finally put the tabs on it, made some uneven polymer beads and got it strung.  A boootiful feeling.  Hey!!!.....who won the skeleton beauty contest??????   No body.

Polymer Circle Necklace

 I wanted an exaggerated length on a necklace for this tunic top.  I made a polymer clay mold of an old round belt component, poked 4 holes in the bottom, baked it and when cooled, looped the cording through the holes, looped some satin cording around the top and I had exactly what I wanted.

You can use leather or metal stamping tools, or leave plain.  

Yes, you could macrame or braid the cording for another effect, but I like the movement of the long cords.Below is an example of the belt component I spoke of, only mine was an old, worn leather belt from GoodWill.   The below Brighton belt is from Zappos.

Big, Bold Polymer Turquoise Ring

 Big, bold, polymer clay turquoise ring buffed to a glass-like shine.  Someone asked me if I actually wear the large pieces I make.  Yes, I do.  I love the light-weight feel of polymer clay.  I particularly love the surface techniques that can be created on larger pieces, whether it is a glass-like finish as on this ring, or a sculpted or molded surface.
