Inspiration for Polymer

My studio is getting re-assembled today.  I will finally have my work tables, lights, tools and photo booth set back up.  I was going through photos on my computer and came across these two from San Diego.  I'm inspired by them; leaning toward a contemporary interpretation.  Hopefully, my first project later today.

Bead Crochet Pattern

Judith Bertoglio-Giffin gave away a copy of her newest eBook (above) to the 6th person to comment on her blog (click HERE). The eBook is $18 before distribution to Sova-Enterprises (click HERE) and $20 thereafter. I completed my own single strand version of Native Stripes to wear with two other bead crochet ropes. Last night I started another one. My hope is to make the necklace on the cover.

Beaded Edging

I beaded a pathetic little edge on some trim and glued it on the lampshade on my old crystal lamp. Not much creating going on. We are having tile laid in several rooms so my studio was dismantled. I cannot get at my beads, polymer or paints because all the furniture from 3 rooms is in my studio and the master bedroom. The work starts promptly at 7:30 a.m. and the tile saw goes all day. Today I may hit a bead store to put together some projects for Monday and Tuesday so I am out of the house. I do have my camera, so Wednesday I'm going on a trip with the art club all day. Thursday, out with friends to Cave Creek for lunch. I miss creating. I love having the tile work done, am blessed to be able to have it done and am looking forward to it being done. But, boy, do I miss creating.

That's Cool!

I was in Glendale, Arizona checking out places to paint when I saw this sign sitting at the base of a picket fence in front of a quaint cottage home. It made me laugh and put me in a good mood.

Elephant or OctopusTree?

I joined my plein air painting group on a beautiful desert outing. I painted for a couple of hours and needed a break. I took a walk to take photos and found this extraordinary tree. I love the "eye" and the shape of the head. I'm not sure what it resembles most, an elephant, an octopus or an alien.

Air Dry Polymer Clay Flowers #1

I've posted some of my air dry polymer clay sculpts before, but I thought I would repeat some because I'm in the mood for spring flowers. We're having tile put in two rooms and everything from those two rooms is stuffed everywhere else. So if I don't post for a few days, you'll know why. Hope you had a joyous Easter.

Polymer Necklace From A Mold

I bought this old plastic coin counter thinking it had a great design. I've just begun experimenting, so we'll see how far I get.

Landscape-Impressionism

I competed in my second plein air painting competition on Saturday. Got up early to pack the car and be at registration at 8:00 A.M. Paintings were to be completed, framed with a wire hanger and displayed on an easel by 3:00 P.M. with judging at 4:30. I sat in the park having a great time painting all day. The BEST part of my day was a little boy about 6 years old who watched me for a while and talked. He was curious about why I was painting outside and not at home and why it didn't look real, etc. We talked on an off while I painted; his mother and sister not far. I kept grunting in frustration and he asked what was the matter. I said I was upset because the wind was blowing and my paints were drying faster than I could get them on the canvas. He was quiet, then moved closer, touched my arm and said, "I don't know how to stop the wind." He was so cute trying to solve my problem. Sweet moments in life. I didn't win a prize, but I felt like it.

Bottle Cap Cakes

I finished the rest of the bottle cap cakes. They will be going with the 5" baby dolls that I crocheted clothes for. I still have to add some polymer clay accessories and then I hope to put them up for sale. They are made by sculpting air dry polymer clay over the lids of pill bottles and soda and water bottles. I used various paints and liquid sculpey to frost them and used the air dry polymer clay to sculpt leaves and flowers to decorate them.
