Hardware Store Jewelry

While at the hardware store (Home Depot), I spotted this rope in the chain, rope and cording section.
They cut it on a machine that heat seals the ends.  I added some polymer clay and loved the big, bold look of it.
This type of nylon rope comes in various thicknesses that you can have cut to any length.
I wore it to an art gathering.  The ends fit snugly in the polymer clay tubes so I had no problem with it coming loose.  It was fun.

  1. Slowly getting back, Marlene. i know I've missed a lot, will take some time soon to catch up.
This piece isn't any of the words I usually use like delicate, stunning, and gorgeous, but it definitely is an eye-catcher!
As I looked at it, I wondered if you were pulling a boat behind you. Don't mind me, that thought comes from seeing too many boats lately deposited in the oddest of places by hurricane Sandy. LOL

  2. Whoa, I would never have thought of that. So simple, yet very elegant. I love going to the hardware store for ideas. Another good place is a farm supply store. I don't often get anything to use, but just going and wandering around and seeing all the materials seems to boost my creativity and make me think of materials in new ways. But this one...brilliant!
