Gecko & Cactus Vase
I added a polymer clay gecko to this old vase. I had this plain vase 16 or so years ago, but it cracked in the move from Chicago to Arizona in 2002. I warmed up some polymer clay and filled in the crack from the inside to the outside and then "finger painted" with the polymer clay. Applying it in layers and pulling it with my fingers and "smudging" it into the ceramic vase's surface. Just like finger painting; it was really fun (click HERE). I was aiming for an abstract cactus and really liked the way it turned out. But, over time, I have wanted to do something else with it. One of the advantages to polymer clay is the ability to change (add to) a finished piece even after many years. The little gecko adds just the right amount of dimension I was looking for. So, for now it is going to stick around for a little while more.
So clever, Marlene. It's very pretty! You must be the Mother of Reinvention. :)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! It is absolutely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see Cynthia Tinapple's pavement cracks Marlene? Another very inventive use of polymer but she so needs a gecko!
ReplyDeleteThank you ladies! Yes, Wendy, I LOVE Cynthia's creative use of Polymer Clay to fill in the cracks of her sidewalk. That is really thinking outside the box!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to fix a crack! Haven't tried painting with polymer yet. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cara. This was the third vase I fixed this way. Works for chips too! Well, I guess that would go unsaid, but anyway, you get the idea.
