Easter Table

 A RAZ Hydrangea Bunny centerpiece, faux food, felted bunnies and eggs, faux candies and polymer clay eggs.  I had fun making all the eggs and felting the bunnies.

I just really enjoy walking by the table.....it makes me smile.

Polymer Faux Ceramic Beads

 I have been designing bead forms and textures for a line of Faux Ceramic Bead necklaces.  

 Exotic, mysterious, sumptuously textured big beads.

Lots more weirdly wonderful offbeat beads to come.

Faux Leather Stars

 I used leather stamping tools to create the designs on my polymer clay faux leather stars.

I purchased some fun faux barbed wire online to go on the tomato cage I will be decorating with the polymer stars and some rusted polymer stars (below).  The hand mirror is for my booth.

Polymer Faux Coral Ring

 

To replicate the structure of coral, I used a ball stylus to poke various small holes in polymer clay and then used the tip of an xacto knife to make the little slices within the holes.  Fun, bold ring.

Big, Bold Polymer Turquoise Ring

 Big, bold, polymer clay turquoise ring buffed to a glass-like shine.  Someone asked me if I actually wear the large pieces I make.  Yes, I do.  I love the light-weight feel of polymer clay.  I particularly love the surface techniques that can be created on larger pieces, whether it is a glass-like finish as on this ring, or a sculpted or molded surface.

Embellished Polymer Clay Driftwood

I was inspired by Alisa Burke's "Altered Driftwood" shown below (click HERE for her blog).  Alisa collects all shapes and sizes and embellishes them by wrapping with fabric and embroidery thread, etc.  She paints them, hangs them, and displays them in jars.  I wanted to wear mine.  Instead of using fabric, I used polymer clay canes.  I sculpted the driftwood from Sculpey Ultra Light polymer clay and gave a light brushing of acrylic paint.

Knuckle rings are in and the bigger they are, the better.  Rock on!

Oversized Polymer Heishi

It's funny how a word's definition can be so different from its interpretation.  I thought Heishi was the way beads were sliced.  A reader emailed to tell me that Heishi meant "shell" and my polymer did not look like shell.  Oops.  I guess my necklace should be called "Oversized Polymer Disks".

Polymer Turquoise Pin

 Gluing the Swarovski crystal in the eye area really made all the difference in my polymer clay faux Turquoise Horse pin.  I used a super magnet instead of a pinback so it can be worn on silk or suede without damage to the material.

I find out later today if I need surgery on my ankle.  Hope not.  We've got lots of plans for the summer that start the first week of June with a trip to the Bead and Button Show in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  So, I am crossing my fingers.

Polymer Jade

I'm still not sure what I want to do with this polymer jade piece.  Maybe a pin, but probably a pendant.  I embedded some faux pearls to look like they were bubbling out.  It will go back in the work in progress tray.

Polymer-Black Horn

 

Lately, I have been fascinated with black horn jewelry so I decided to try my hand at duplicating it in polymer.  I'm happy with these buttons and will now try a larger piece for the necklace.  Tomorrow I'm posting a little jade piece while I work on the faux black horn.

Polymer Faux Leather Cuff

This was my third submission to IPCA's 2011 Progress and Possibilities (click HERE). I had researched armor and learned that most early armor ended at the elbow, so some type of wrist guard was necessary. I was inspired by this, and as a result, yesterday's post of the Contemporary Wrist Armor and today's piece "Modern Wrist Guard" were my polymer clay interpretations.

Tooled Leather Mold

Nope, still not feeling good, but got this done. This has a nice tooled leather look to it. I like it a lot. I had a big sheet of this wallpaper, but only have a couple pieces left so I am glad I made an impression of it. That's all I got today.
