Polymer Clay Magnetic Pins

Textured Knitting

A little textured knitting.  Organic shapes and lots of holes.   I am so drawn to to deconstructed clothing with its raw, frayed edges, weird seams, exposed linings, etc.  And, I LOVE making something like this with its different stitches, open holes, raised and ruffled spots, looped and bubbled rows.

Wrist Warmers & Smittens

I got this pattern from the BBB Sisters on Design Sponge (click HERE).  The instructions' link is in the 5th paragraph down.  The post is called "Hunt, Gather and Host a Knitting Party".  Everything from the invitations to what to serve is included. 

 I wanted a finished buttonhole for the thumb opening, so I practiced the Tulip buttonhole until "I got it".  It took me a while, but it was worth it.  You can find the written instructions and a great video on Tech Knitting blogspot (click HERE).   The lacy ones in the top photo lasted about a day and off came the lace.  Simple and practical; love them.

I used the vertical Invisible Mattress Stitch for closing the side seams.  Knitting Daily has great instructions (click HERE).  This pair was a fun learning experience.  My next pair is going to be Sonnentaler's "1 Hour Mitts"  (click HERE).   So cute.  Or how about the "Smittens" below?

Knitted Scarf

 This is the knitted scarf before I fringed it.   I liked the way it looked and decided I would order more yarn and make a larger one.  So, I shortened this one up by tearing out several rows and then fringing it.

 I particularly like the texture and pattern of this yarn.  It was fun.

Knitted Scarf

 Size 10 knitting needles, 1 ball Feza Tokyo yarn, cast on 20 stitches and knit each row.  That's it.  How nice is that?  I wanted an uneven edge so I increased every once in a while as you can see, but I never went over 30 stitches.

Then I would decrease back to 25, then up to 30 and then down to 20.  Or you can leave a nice even edge of 20 stitches for the entire scarf, it is just as pretty.  I originally did not fringe the scarf, but then changed my mind and love it.  Just play.

Polymer & Knitted Scarf

You may recall these polymer clay pins I made.  I have been enjoying them on this new scarf I knitted.  I loved knitting this scarf so much, I just ordered more yarn and am looking forward to making another.  The next one will be longer and wider.  Can't wait.  (Stop back on Saturday for the simple pattern).

Drop Stitch Scarf

 Knitted drop stitch scarf.  I followed the easy to follow YouTube video instructions from Planet Purl (click HERE) and used up some leftover yarn.  As soon as I heard her say, "you can knit 2 or more rows in between the drop stitches or vary the amount", I knew it was for me.

I have started out the year knitting, crocheting and learning new patterns.  I'm using up my yarn stash and am so happy with the results.

No "L" and TP Scarf

Get it? No "L"? My sense of humor. What can I say? The holiday season can be hectic and stressful. It just made me laugh. I was inspired by a TP cover I saw on Ravelry (click HERE). My little TP scarf is 20 across and however long you want to knit it. The yarn is Bernat Satin "Snow". I love its softness and how pure the white is. I also used it for the Snowball scarf. Makes incredibly soft snowballs.

Knitted Neckpiece

Finally finished this piece and am happy with it. It has a unique look and feel to it.

I have been on a roll with the crocheting and knitting just to relax. I'm still working on the horse paintings which are not going that well at this point. I've had an ear ache which is just hanging on despite the antibiotics. Anywho, my husband just walked in and said, "You know, this is not the painting she is looking for....the mountain is all wrong and...." I was sitting at the computer and whipped around so fast I looked like Linda Blair in the Exorcist and he flew out of the room. I will be crocheting later, obviously.

Felted Bowl

My Easter Basket. I fell in love with this felted bowl the last time I was at the yarn store. It is about 28" around and feels scrumptious. I love the colors and the sheer size of it. And let's not forget the texture. Oh the texture! I thought I could knit that! And then remembered I can't get past a scarf so I treated myself.

Knitting

I got to the last two rows of this great scarf and dropped all the stitches. I love, love, love the yarn, so will do it again, but will invest in the right knitting needles. I thought I would save and buy some cheap wooden ones that had terrible points, but I pushed on thinking it's almost done....it was done all right.

You Can't Unblock

I know this turkey hat is crocheted and it's a real beauty, but it really says it all how I am doing with my knitting. I finished the back, sides, and sleeves of my free form kimono. I blocked it, sewed it together and decided it was far too big. The back was fine so I left that alone and tore out the rest. What I discovered (duh!) is that once yarn is blocked, it doesn't like to be undone. I'm knitting the front two panels again, but they are not matching the back because the yarn was compromised. It should go well with the turkey hat. BTW, the turkey hat is from Ravelry (free to register and there are hundreds of free patterns); just in case you want to start yours now so you're ready by Thanksgiving.
