Riding Along

 

"Just Riding Along".  Polymer clay figure dressed in air dry polymer clay sitting on a purchased animal.  Kind of like me just riding along everyday still recuperating from a knee revision and a hip replacement and have 3 more weeks of physical therapy.  Now have a new issue to deal with; a blood clot in my left lung.  Ya know, it's not the way to start out the New Year!

Polymer Clay Coral

I found this beautiful blown glass piece at Goodwill.  Several chips and small cracks in the very bottom, but easy to cover up.  Time consuming layering the translucent polymer clay, but worth it.

Mermaid Vase

Native American Polymer Clay Bead Embroidery

 

Finished the Native American bead embroidery piece. I added several more layers of beaded outline and a nice long fringe. Mounted it on a black leather covered wooden plaque and covered the back with black felt to complete it.

Polymer Clay Bowls

Polymer clay bowls.  These are so addictive to make.  A great way to use up all those canes!  I love making these.

Mermaids

 Sculpting translucent clay on glass is one of my passions.  This vase was purchased by a very good friend who fell in love with it.  It made me feel so good.

Black & White Bowls

 A 3" glass bowl covered with slices of the black and white polymer clay canes I received in the cane swap at the AZPCG Prescott, AZ retreat.

And a tiny 1-1/2" glass bowl covered in more black and white canes.

Black and White Canes

 I participated in a Black and White cane swap at the Arizona Polymer Clay Guild's Annual Retreat in Prescott, Az.  I have not done any caning in a long time so I kept it simple.  My hand is still not OK, but, boy, it felt good to work with clay again!

 I was happy with what I accomplished and had fun making a huge mess.

 I'm using some of the canes to cover glass bowls and some to cover eggs.

I ran the black and white scraps through the pasta machine until they were a beautiful gray color.  And then......made gray and white canes.

Polymer Clay Embellished

I used up some really old canes on this ceramic cowboy boot.  Didn't even make a dent in the cane stash.  I made this while ago before surgery.  I'm still in a half cast recouping from surgery at the elbow and wrist for an entrapped ulnar nerve.  Recovering soooooo slowly and can't really do anything.  Typing this left handed is hard - thank goodness for auto correct.

Polymer Clay Mermaid

I'm sculpting more mermaids. I'm using translucent polymer clay on glass vessels.  I'm trying to finish some projects before I go for elbow and wrist surgery on Tuesday.

The Polymer Arts

I recently had successful knee replacement, but developed a skin infection and ended up back in the hospital for several days.  So, when this arrived in the mail today, it made my day. Clowning Around

I made these fun Clown Rings in the wonderful Leslie Blackford's workshop at Clay Carnival last August.  You can read more about Clay Carnival in LasVegas, Nevada by clicking HERE.  It is tentatively set for October 12 - 15, 2016.  I'm hoping to go again.

Polymer Clay & Texture

 Aluminum foil armatures, CelluClay over the foil and then I covered the CelluClay with polymer clay and baked.  Texturing is my favorite part. However, I kept getting unwanted fingerprints and nail scratches. I couldn't pick it up or turn it without unwanted marks.  I thought, "I wish I had a pair of texture gloves" so I could handle it anyway I wanted to.  And then it dawned on me I did have texture gloves.....a pair of great exfoliating bath gloves!  And they worked beautifully!  It is taking on a life of its own.

Papier Mache

This is one of those ideas that will need to be "worked through" several times.  I'm not happy with the first go around, but I'm learning from it.

 I wanted a centerpiece for a sea food dinner; more of a tablescape.  A mermaid vase full of flowers and interchangeable pieces around it and situated down the table runner on either side of the vase.

So I built the aluminum foil armatures.  Made a huge mess with the CelluClay which is a ready made papier mache mix.  Covered the armatures with the CelluClay.  They turned out much larger than what I wanted.  But, carry on I must; I've gone this far.  Then I started covering one of the tea light holders with polymer clay and baked it.  Turned out OK.  I painted it, and moved on to the next piece.  As I am working on all this, I realize I'm using a huge amount of polymer clay experimenting with this idea and thinking, "When all this is done, where am I going to store this rambling creation?"

GranPods

When I get free time, I am sitting sculpting more GranPods.  I really enjoy making these guys.
