Enchanted Polymer Clay

An enchanted forest polymer clay necklace with tiny pebble steps leading up to a mysterious door.  I am reading a children's book from the 1950's "The Borrower's" by Mary Norton.  I love the creativity and humor of this little book.  It made me think about this polymer clay necklace I made a couple of years ago and have started wearing it again.  Fun and smiles.

Polymer In The Pines

Finished putting together 30 packs of my Faux Mexican Embroidery Tutorial, a cable necklace, a headpin and jump ring for finishing the pendant.  It will be a fun class to teach.  I'm ready to head up to the mountains of Prescott for 4 days of glorious polymer clay.

I love Penni Jo Couch's Best Flexible Molds for my cabochons (Above is PJ002). Her Etsy Shop "ClayLady43" is stocked with her fabulous molds also.  I just ordered two more and can't wait until they get here.  I included all of Penni Jo's websites for members to refer to as an excellent source for tutorials and supplies.  And, of course, the neverKnead is also coming with me.  I will demo it for those members who attend the retreat only.   So, if I am missing in action for a few days, you will know that I am in a beautiful setting in the mountains, working with polymer, learning and laughing with friends.

Ethnic or Native, I don't know.  It's a first try.  I'm working on the second.

Polymer Cross #2

I purchased several new cross molds and have been having so much fun with them.   Just picked up another one which is larger so I can't wait to give it a try. 

Polymer Canework Pendants

I am enjoying making these pendants with slices of my polymer canes.  Fun.

The pendant in the back and the one center front are from my Mudcloth cane and the other three are from the Intricate Caning workshop I took from Sarah Shriver in October.  They were a big hit at the art fair Nov. 2.

Bubble Ring

I have been busy getting ready for an upcoming art fair Nov. 2 and haven't had a chance to do my Halloween "thing".  Boooooo.  I've been blending colors, making canes and creating some new jewelry for this show.  Hope you have a fun day today....I know I am.

Liquid Metal

 Bronze, Brass, Copper and Iron VerDay Paints from Ten Second Studio.

I love using this paint on my polymer clay.  Time consuming, but worth it.

B4 Oxidizing

I rolled out my polymer and cut out circles.  I textured each one on both sides using four different texture sheets.  Today I'm painting them with metal paints and letting them dry until Wednesday evening.  Then I will spray them with a patina solution and wait for them to oxidize.  Hopefully I will have photos for you on Thursday.

Retreat Projects

Besides starting the gourd piece and giving a demo, I worked on creating more polymer clay Zombie necklaces and a couple of donation necklaces.

My work area.  A 4'x2' folding table, 2 collaspible shelves filled with my supplies and a cup warmer I use to bake on.  I brought my own chair too.  Not too spoiled.

Zombie Raggedy Ann

I tried to make a zombie Raggedy Ann (on the right), but she didn't turn out too scary.  Maybe the next one.  Zombie Raggedy Ann lives on a dead end street, but vacations at the Dead Sea Spa Hotel.  No groans?  Just dead silence.

3 Zombies Hanging Around

I've been having fun making Zombie necklaces.  None of my zombies have hair, but if they did.....they would use scare-spray.  Yeah, I know.  I can hear the groans.  Can't help myself.

Milagros Necklace

 I've collected Milagros for a while and finally made a necklace of them.  I may need to divide it because it is a tad heavy.  We'll see.

BONE China Pendant #2

A piece of polymer clay BONE china made into a pendant for one of the most creative holidays of the year-Halloween.  Yeah, having fun with these.

BONE China Pendant #1

It's not Delft pottery, but BONE china.  Okay, okay, I'm kicking the Halloween season off early with some polymer clay pendants made with my Skeleton Crew canes using Julie Eakes' Delft technique.

Carved Pendant #2

Carving this pendant while still warm was like cutting through butter.  After carving, I poured white Kato Liquid Polyclay over the entire piece.  I took a paper towel and wiped the excess liquid clay off the bottom area while leaving the upper area alone.  After baking, I took a couple of photos and am pleased with it.  I really like working with the Kato Liquid Polyclay.  While at Clay Carnival, I purchased two bottles of white, clear, purple, blue, orange and yellow, so I better get busy.

Black & White Earrings

I took a a very thick slice of one of my canes and ran it through the pasta machine on #1, turned the piece and ran it through on #2, turned it and ran it through on #3....and so on until I had the right design and thinness to stretch over my earrings.

 The earrings were in bad shape when I got them from Goodwill.  A little scrubbing, a little alcohol and they were ready for a coat of liquid clay.  Then I applied the design and wrapped it around the back.  Trimmed it, smoothed it and baked it.  Sanded and buffed to a shine.

Polymer Faux Coral Ring

 

To replicate the structure of coral, I used a ball stylus to poke various small holes in polymer clay and then used the tip of an xacto knife to make the little slices within the holes.  Fun, bold ring.

Vintage Clip-On Earrings

Vintage clip-on earrings from the 1950's create a beautiful garden necklace when clipped over a cable wire neck piece.
