Watercolor Landscape

I paint with artist grade watercolor paints like I do with acrylics; layering and building.

They are just little paintings that I frame under matte board and glass.

Upside Down Smile

I sculpted this using black crystals for the eyes, polymer, acrylic glazes and a string head piece.

You can tell, I'm feeling better; my sense of humor is back.

Hummingbird Mold

I made a two part silicone mold, but before it completely "set up", I made some designs and changes to it.

I didn't know I could do that. I used the point of a pin and the end of a ball point pen in some sections and a tiny driver bit in others.

It was just enough to play around with today. I'm draggin my butt.

Good To Be Home

Just got home from 4 days in the hospital so if I don't post for a couple of days, you'll know why. I'm exhausted. I swear, you cannot get a good night's sleep in a hospital. Someone is always poking you for something. Sure is good to be home and feeling better. Anyway, I hope to get some work done in the next couple of days and start pre-posting again. I took a great polymer class before I was laid up so I will post some photos of my interpretation.

Just in Time for the 4th!

This is the "Brush Vase" from the Reality Series by Harry Allen (an award winning interior and industrial designer). This is the CSN Stores' product I chose to review and, do I have to say it? I LOVE it. Specifically, it is from the Modern Accessories store (one of the 200 stores) I'm an artist, so how could I pass it up? Yes, it can hold my brushes, but it also is functional as a fresh flower vase. It comes with a form fitted glass insert! It is made of cold-cast resin which means it can be cleaned with water and a mild soap. It is really beautiful.

I purchased the above salt and pepper shakers because they make me laugh. The front and back ends are rubber (again, easy clean up). I truly enjoyed browsing through CSN's 200 stores and the tons of great products. Many have free shipping and I might add that my products were packaged securely and arrived in perfect condition. CSN Stores were a pleasure to do business with. The Brush Vase is getting some fresh flowers tomorrow and will grace my picnic table. I'm ready for some burgers and fries and apple pie. Bring on the fireworks!

A Bee Catcher

Here in the Southwest, there are the occasional bee and/or fly that invites itself to picnics or bar-b-ques. Every so often we see a bottle catcher baited with something sweet to draw the bees and/or flies in.

When I was a kid, I used to catch fire flies and put them in a jar to watch them glow (yes, I let them go). It was always so much fun. I wanted a picnic bee catcher for my tablescape and made it out of polymer, acrylic paints, glue, wire, a piece of artificial fern and a Mason jar.

The artificial fern was purchased. I glued the bees on with Krazy glue.

I sculpted a small bee and then made a two-part silicone mold of it. I used Kato polymer clay in black to make duplicate bees. I painted the yellow stripes with acrylic paint and the wings with interference acrylic paint. I used a Mason jar, poked holes in the painted lid and wired a handle. Bees, flies, ants, gnats and mosquitoes........ahhhhhhhh, summer is here.
